RICHARD HUTTEN Richard Hutten is among Holland’s most successful and influential designers. He founded his design studio in 1991, focusing on industrial and interior design. His playful and humorous yet functional designs have been sold worldwide. His intelligent, innovative and conceptual work is collected widely by major museums around the world. When describing his design philosophy, Hutten says: “I don’t solve problems, I create possibilities.” Hutten is the creative director of the nearly 100 year-old Dutch company Gispen.

BERLAGE™ CHAIR The Berlage chair was designed by Hutten for the Grand Café of the Municipal Museum, located in the Netherlands. It emerged not as a chair with vertical legs, but one in which the line of the back extends through to the back legs. For the chair’s upholstery, Hutten drew his inspiration from the webbing used to attach the upholstery to the underside of the seat in the original design.

JOVI™ Lounge Jovi lounge seating was designed by Hutten as a bold experiment in the melding of traditional, functional elements into one visually compelling form. Jovi conveys movement while encouraging a more complex idea of what simple seating can be. RICHARD HUTTEN

centrAal museum™ chair Originally designed for a restaurant in a former medieval monastery, the Centraal Museum chair has also been used for a Dutch royal wedding, fast food restaurants, hotels and many private gardens.

BRONTO™ chair The Bronto chair was designed by Richard Hutten for children and named after the Brontosaurus, one of the most well-known dinosaurs in popular culture. Light in weight, easy to clean and extremely durable, the Bronto chair is ideal for indoor and outdoor use. RICHARD HUTTEN

GERRIT RIETVELD Gerrit Thomas Rietveld was a Dutch furniture designer and architect. Among the principal members of the Dutch artistic movement called De Stijl, Rietveld is famous for his Red and Blue Chair (1917) and for the Rietveld Schröder House (1924), which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

MONDIAL™ CHAIR Gerrit Rietveld designed the Mondial chair specifically for the World Exhibition in Brussels in 1958. The Mondial was Rietveld’s “chair for the world.” The Mondial is both a minimalist and innovative design, created by one of the most prominent furniture designers of the 20th century. ITOKI Itoki Design is a cross-cultural endeavor encompassing a blend of Japanese technology and expertise, European design philosophy and American manufacturing. Itoki Design is led by award-winning industrial designer Jeff Miller and Yoshi Konishi, president.
