Product catalog summary
Project Overview
The project, in collaboration with ETH Zurich, focuses on CO2 reduction using controlled atmospheres and solar technology. The aim is to convert CO2 into solar fuels, a key technology for sustainable energy and addressing global warming. The project is led by Markus Niederberger, a Full Professor in the Department of Materials at ETH Zurich.

Role of MCQ Instruments
MCQ Instruments provides the technology to control and modify specific atmospheres, crucial for the project's success. Their Gas Mixer GB100 Series is used to ensure stable gas flows, essential for the CO2 conversion process.

Technical Specifications
The Gas Mixer GB100 Series offers:
  • Flow stability for low flow-ranges.
  • Micro flow control from 0.1 ml/min to 500 ml/min without cut-off.
  • Software automation for easy experiment management.

Benefits and Savings
The use of the Gas Mixer allows for significant time savings by eliminating the need for multiple calibration cylinders. It also provides a more compact and efficient solution compared to traditional Mass Flow Controllers.

Application and Target
The project explores the hydrogenation-CO2 reaction, requiring precise gas mixtures. The GB100 Series enables continuous reactions with low gas flow, enhancing the feasibility and practicality of scaling the process using nano materials as photocatalysts.

Conclusion
Without MCQ's technology, the project would require multiple Mass Flow Controllers and additional equipment, complicating the process. The Gas Mixer provides a streamlined, automated solution, enhancing the project's efficiency and effectiveness.

CO2 reduction. Control and modify specific gas athmospheres.-2

DESCRIPTION OF THE APPLICATION AND THE TARGET Conversion of CO2 into solar fuels is a key technology for developing a sustainable energy economy while global warning issues are simultaneously addressed. So far, CO2 can be reduced either with solar-derived H2 or directly with water, in the near- or long-term respectively. In both cases, a gas-phase reaction is desirable for scaling the process since it is more practical and economically feasible. Our project aims to use nano materials as photocatalyst for achieve a high CO2 conversion. Currently, we are exploring the hydrogenation -CO2 reaction....
