A compact disposable cartridge that includes all the tubings has been developed for the easiest patient connection and treatment start-up. The cartridge has a low priming volume and gives the physician and nursing staff the flexibility of choice of pre-dilution or post-dilution treatments. After inserting the cartridge, EQUAsmart will rinse and test the extracorporeal circuit for patii safety. A pediatric cartridge is also available.

Ultrafiltration Management Within the CRRT treatments, the key element is the filter, as it has to operate for a long time maintaining an high ultrafiltration rate independently on the patient's conditions. The filter life can be reduced by the ultrafiltration pump requiring a too high UF rate, creating a premature fouling of membrane that could bring to filter replacement. EQUAsmart does not reduce the filter life with an additional physical stress due to the use of an ultrafiltration pump.
