Product catalog summary
Surgical Technique Overview
The document provides a surgical technique for the implantation of the SCARFixTM plate, emphasizing that the choice of technique is at the discretion of the operating physician. It highlights the importance of using only the tools provided and notes that Merete® implants are single-use.

Accessing and Displaying Joints
A medial incision is recommended to protect the dorsal medial cutaneous nerve, with exposure to the metatarsal achieved. A lateral release of the distal soft tissue is optional.

Performing the Scarf-Osteotomy
The plate is applied to the first metatarsal before marking the saw cuts on the bone.

Plate Application and Temporary Fixation
The SCARFixTM plate is temporarily fixed using short K-wires. The Ludloff Osteotomy Fixation Clamp can also be used. If necessary, the plate can be bent in the distal area using a bending instrument.

Positioning of the First Merete® Cannulated PCS 3.0 mm
A K-wire is inserted through the screw hole, and the position is checked with a C-arm. The screw length is measured, and the hole is pre-drilled before inserting the screw to achieve compression and fixation.
