The balance between function, form and material is a deciding aspect specifically in the medical field. The Kirschner wire applicator combines these elementary qualities into a unique medical instrument. The instrument can be opened by pressure relief during insertion of wire, pulled back, thereafter closed anew, whereby the wire is gradually inserted into the bone up to the desired position. For easier insertion and enhanced stability of rotation the wire tip can be pre-bent by means of an integrated bending device. The inside of the handle is fitted with a protective device so as to protect the surgeon's hand against improper handling.
