Product catalog summary
Introduction
The Orbit mini is a portable device designed for efficient bilayer recordings, combining ease of use with advanced measurement techniques. It is an entry-level device by Nanion for conducting bilayer recordings with minimal setup time and effort.

Key Features
  • Fast formation of four painted lipid bilayers.
  • Simultaneous low noise, high bandwidth recordings from four bilayers.
  • No need for disassembly or cleaning between experiments.
  • Temperature control with active cooling and heating.
  • Cost-efficient experiments using disposable MECA chips.

Technical Specifications
  • Built-in four-channel amplifier for low noise, high bandwidth recordings.
  • Computer-controlled temperature regulation.
  • Compact design with USB-computer connection.

MECA Chips
The Micro Electrode Cavity Array (MECA) chips are used for manual painting of lipid bilayers. Each chip contains a 2 x 2 array of microcavities with integrated Ag/AgCl-microelectrodes, ensuring high success rates for functional bilayers. These chips have been validated with various ion channels such as KcsA, gramicidin, α-hemolysin, Kv1.3, and Nav.

Applications
The Orbit mini allows for parallel recordings from four different ion channels, making it suitable for diverse experimental setups. The device's portability and ease of use make it ideal for conducting experiments in various environments, including while traveling.

Plug and paint. • imultaneous recording from four lipid bilayers S • Low noise, high bandwidth recordings • emperature control - active cooling and heating T • ost-efficient experiments with disposable MECA chips C Introducing the Orbit mini – Nanion's entry level device for bilayer recordings Bilayer recordings typically mean tedious waiting for b ilayer formation, rotein introduction and eventually p ion channel activity. The Orbit mini combines the parallel membrane preparation and measurement techniques known from the Orbit 16 with a maximum of portability and ease of use. Orbit mini contains a built-in, miniaturized four-channel amplifier, allowing low noise recordings at high band- Key features of the Orbit mini: width without the need for any additional equipment – • Fast formation of four painted lipid bilayers you could virtually conduct experiments while travelling • Simultaneous low noise, high bandwidth recordings by train! Due to the unique design of the Orbit mini, the from four bilayers • No time consuming disassembly or cleaning between experments measurement chamber temperature can be actively controlled without additional noise gener
