DC-STIMULATOR PLUS

Product catalog summary
Overview: The DC-STIMULATOR PLUS is a programmable direct and alternating current stimulator designed for scientific research in non-invasive interventional neurophysiology. It provides transcranial electrical stimulation (tES) using weak currents to modulate brain activity by either activating or inhibiting cortical activity.
Specifications: The device offers a 1-channel transcranial stimulator for both unipolar (DC) and bipolar (AC) stimulation. It features four different stimulation settings, active and sham stimulation, and an internal 16-bit D/A conversion with a time resolution of less than 1 ms. The stimulator operates on built-in rechargeable batteries with a continuous operation time of approximately 5 hours, depending on load impedance and features.
Safety and Usability: The DC-STIMULATOR PLUS ensures high patient safety standards through multistage monitoring of the current path, automatic termination of stimulation, and continuous monitoring of electrode impedance. It includes intuitive menu navigation via a display and four buttons, allowing individual setting and saving of stimulation parameters.
Optional Features: The device can be extended with several optional features, including:
  • Schedule mode for setting up a treatment schedule, allowing safe operation without medical staff intervention.
  • Study mode for double-blind studies with encoded sham and active stimulation.
  • fMRI add-on for artifact-free MRI images during EPI sequences, tested for 1.5 and 3 Tesla scanners.
  • Signal Out for EEG measurements during tACS/tRNS, enabling online-corrected EEG signals.
  • Remote operation via an externally controlled voltage source and a trigger module for safe external trigger connection.
Stimulation Modes: The stimulator offers various modes:
  • tDCS Mode: Continuous stimulation with adjustable current up to ±4,500 μA, duration from 15 to 1,800 seconds.
  • Pulse Mode: Cyclic stimulation with adjustable pulse cycles and inter-stimulus intervals.
  • Sinus Mode: Bipolar sinus waves with adjustable current, frequency, and phase settings.
  • Noise Mode: Broadband low and high-frequency noise with adjustable current and duration.
Contact Information: The device is manufactured by neurocare group AG and neuroConn GmbH, with contact details provided for further inquiries.

DC-STIMULATOR PLUS-1

Measuring and Modulating Brain Activity The DC-STIMULATOR PLUS is a stimulator for use in scientific research that provides a stimulation with weak currents, either direct or alternating, (transcranial Electrical Stimulation; tES), within non-invasive Interventional Neurophysiology. The electrical charge and current density applied through a constant current source are far below the threshold for releasing a stimulus. Depending on the duration, the used current, the current density, and the frequency the stimulation has a modular effect on existing neuronal elements by either activating or inhibiting cortical activity. Advantages of the DC-STIMULATOR PLUS: • highest patient safety standards due to multistage monitoring of the current path, automatic termination of the stimulation, as well as continuous monitoring of the electrode impedance • intuitive menu navigation via display and four buttons • individual setting and saving of the stimulation parameters • programmable treatment schedule with limited menu access* • study mode for double-blind active and sham stimulation* • signal output for online-correction of the EEG signal during tDCS or tACS/tRNS* • extension for use of the DC-STIMULATOR PLUS in fMRI scanners*
