When the connector is mated with the receptacle, the connector's locking fingers (1) will lock into place in the receptacle and form a dependable connection between both parts. It cannot be separated by pulling on the connector's cable (2). Instead, the connector can easily be demated from the receptacle by pulling on the outer housing (3).
