SPC Hip Stem

Product catalog summary
Product Overview
The SPC Hip Stem is a medical implant designed for hip replacement surgeries, based on the research of Prof. Lorenzo Spotorno. It has been in use for over 20 years, demonstrating reliability and effectiveness. The stem is constructed from a titanium wrought alloy (ISO 5832-11) and features a 12/14 cone, allowing compatibility with both metal and ceramic femoral heads.

Design and Variability
The SPC Hip Stem is available in 13 different sizes, each offering three CCD angles (125°, 135°, 145°) to accommodate various femoral anatomies. This range supports the reconstruction of the joint's natural geometry, considering biochemical parameters such as the center of rotation and leg length.

Anchorage and Stability
The primary anchorage of the SPC Hip Stem is achieved through a press-fit principle, where the double conical-shaped body is pressed into the cortico-spongious bone. Spongiosa-compressing ribs enhance primary stability by minimizing relative movement, while secondary anchorage is achieved through osteointegration, facilitated by the osteophilic properties of the titanium alloy and the surface roughness.

Instruments and Techniques
All versions of the SPC Hip Stem can be implanted using the same set of instruments and techniques. Modular rasps with various test cones are available for intraoperative trial repositioning, confirming the pre-selected implant size and version. Instruments feature an ergonomic silicone grip system, meeting cleaning and sterilization standards. The rasps are made from premium-grade hardened stainless steel, CNC grounded, and plasma-polished for durability and ease of preparation.

Instrument Sets
The basic instrument set and the rasp instrument set are available in Monolite trays, crafted from a single piece of premium-grade stainless steel. These trays are lightweight and stackable, enhancing their practicality in surgical settings.

SPC Hip Stem-1

OHSTO medical technology For a cementless anchoring in the femur The principle of the SPC hip stem is based on the findings of Prof. Lorenzo Spotorno. The product has been tried and tested for more than 20 years. Made of a titanium wrought alloy (ISO 5832-11) and fitted with a 12/14 cone, the stem can be combined with both metal and ceramic femoral heads. For the various femoral anatomies of the patients the SPC hip stem is available in 13 sizes, each with three different CCD angles. There is therefore a wide range available for the reconstruction of the natural geometry of the joint using the biochemical parameters of center of rotation, leg length and CCD angle. The primary anchorage is carried out in accordance with the press-fit principle. After preparation of the implant bed, the double conical-shaped body of the stem is pressed metaphysically into the cortico-spongious bone. A high degree of primary stability is achieved by the spongiosa-com-pressing ribs, so that almost all relative movement is excluded and the secondary anchorage improved at the same time. The secondary anchorage is finally achieved by osteointegration, which is promoted by the osteophilic titanium alloy and the roughness of the surface. SPC Hip Stem-2

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION Ti6Al7Nb (ISO 5832-11) rough surface, blasted Metal and ceramic femoral heads All implant versions of the SPC hip stem can be incorporated with the same set of instruments and the same operating techniques. For the modular rasps there are various test cones available with the corresponding angles which serve the purpose of intraoperative trial repositioning and are therefore used for confirming the pre-operatively selected implant size and version. All instruments are equipped with an ergonomically formed silicone grip system which meets all cleaning and sterilization requirements....
