The Sphinx jr. is a Holmium-YAG laser system with a wavelength of 2.1 µm and a power output of 30 W at tissue. It offers pulse energy ranging from 0.5 to 3.5 J, a repetition rate of single pulse to 20 Hz, and adjustable pulse peak power between 6 to 18 kW. The pulse duration is adjustable from 100 to 650 µs. The system includes an aiming beam of 635 nm, 5mW, with an optional 532 nm, 5mW, 3R. It operates on a mains supply of 210 V - 240 V or 110 V - 115 V, with air cooling, and weighs approximately 95 kg. The environmental conditions for operation are 15 - 28 °C with 10 - 90% humidity (non-condensing).
The Sphinx jr. combines 25 years of Holmium laser experience with modern technology, offering flexibility and intuitive operation. It is ideal for endoscopic lithotripsy and allows for easy adjustment of pulse energy, repetition rate, and StoneEffect™ for efficient lithotripsy of hard and soft calculi. The laser supports both reusable and disposable fibres, and operates continuously without overheating. A real-time pulse display provides comprehensive information on laser emission characteristics. The optional double pedal footswitch allows for customizable laser parameters.
The Sphinx jr. features a user-friendly interface with a capacitive touch screen and a 7’’ wide-screen colour display. Laser settings are adjusted via touch sliders, and up to 60 treatment parameter sets can be stored. The fibre port opens automatically upon fibre connector entry, and the system operates quietly in standard OR environments.
The laser requires a standard power supply and does not need additional installations. Reusable laser fibres reduce clinical waste and application costs, while the durable design minimizes maintenance expenses.
The Sphinx jr. is suitable for applications such as laser lithotripsy, PCNL, strictures, incisions, bladder tumours, condylomata, and tissue ablation. It complies with safety standards IEC 60601 and CE according to Council Directive 93/42/EEC. It is important to note that national healthcare regulations may affect the clinical applications of this product, and it is not intended for neurosurgery in the USA.
