Gas Strut Replacement Please follow the below steps to remove and replace gas struts on your Pacific Medical electric couch. Please note some couches have different shaped handles & sized struts but the process for changing is the same. 1. 2. 3. 4. Hold the gas strut body indicated by the green arrows and turn anti clockwise to unscrew the end cap. Then remove the bolts in the red circles ensuring you retain the washers, spacers and plastic caps. Remove gas strut from couch & remove the end cap from new gas strut. Insert at the top where the release handle (in yellow) is. Ensure the tab on the release handle is positioned inside the u shaped end piece and under the bolt. The tab is marked with a short yellow line at the release handle end. Tighten the bolt with your fingers only to keep it loosely in place. 5. Screw gas strut body clockwise onto existing end cap in blue circles at the bottom. If you need to extend the gas strut to reach gently press the release handle for a second. 6. Check strut function & once confirmed tighten the bolts & replace the plastic caps. 7. Check strut & release handle function again once bolts tightened.
