Product Overview: The FETAL PORT® is a prenatal port system designed to support fetal growth in cases of intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) due to placental insufficiency. It also includes the AFR-PORT system for amniotic fluid replacement in cases of preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM) with anhydramnios.
Indications: The system is indicated for fetal nutrition and amniotic fluid replacement in specific conditions such as IUGR and PPROM.
Contraindications: The system should not be used in cases of posterior located placenta, cervical insufficiency, infection, or contractions.
Purpose: The primary goals are to improve fetal growth, prolong pregnancy, and reduce perinatal morbidity and mortality.
Usage: The system allows for the long-term administration of nutrients like amino acids and glucose into the umbilical vein and long-term amnioinfusion through a subcutaneously implanted port system.
Period of Use: For IUGR, it is used during the 24th to 32nd week of gestation. For PPROM, it is used between the 22nd and 30th week of gestation until delivery.
Placement: Port implantation is suitable for pregnant women with an anterior or anterior-lateral located placenta, with ultrasound-guided catheter placement in the amniotic cavity.
Duration: The intraumbilical infusion is limited to 10% of the estimated feto-placental blood volume per day, with continuous infusion rates of 50-120 ml/h.
