Product catalog summary
Product Overview:
The POLYSHUNT® is a small, flexible 'T' shaped carotid shunt designed to improve surgical techniques by reducing patient trauma and ensuring safety. Key features include maintaining cerebral blood circulation, limited dissection, simple and rapid application, easy visibility of shunt permeability, and control of internal carotid balloon pressure.
Specifications:
  • Sterile product, individually packaged with a stiff blister to prevent crushing.
  • Internal carotid balloon capacity: 0.25 ml.
  • Common carotid balloon capacity: 1.5 ml.
  • Safety balloon length: 30 cm or 15 cm depending on the model.
  • CE marked by notified body LNE-GMED.
Application Technique:
  1. Approach the carotid bifurcation and check the three axes.
  2. Test the shunt using heparin serum injections, not air. Purge the system through the red stopcock and test balloons using appropriate syringes.
  3. Perform a longitudinal arteriotomy.
  4. Position and inflate the internal carotid balloon gently, ensuring the safety balloon does not inflate.
  5. Clamp the catheter for the common carotid.
  6. Position and inflate the common carotid balloon until there is no reflux.
  7. Conduct an endarterectomy, moving the shunt as needed.
  8. Suture the arteriotomy starting at both ends.
  9. Remove the shunt after deflating the internal carotid balloon and clamping necessary parts.
  10. Close the arteriotomy after purging the carotid bifurcation.
