Description: Pharma-Jelly Net Silver is non-adherent, antimicrobial wound dressing, made of polyester mesh impregnated in soft, non-adherent matrix, containing superabsorbent powder, soft paraffin and cohesion polymers. Silver compound is incorporated in the non-adherent matrix which renders the dressing antimicrobial against wide range of microorganism including Gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa; Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, MRSA and VRE; and fungi such as Aspergillus niger and Penicillium nigricans. Mechanism of action of silver: 1-Damage to bacterial cell membrane, could lead to the leakage of cytoplasm from the cell, which would result in dehydrated and shrunken cells. 2- Silver atoms bind to thiol groups (-SH) in enzymes, and subsequently, cause the deactivation of enzymes. 3- Silver associates with DNAonce they enter the cell, thus preventing bacterial cell replication. Continuous antimicrobial protection: Pharma-Jelly Net Silver release of silver is highly controlled, They are seldom eluted out with wound exudates; In fact large amounts of silver are unnecessary and can actually be cytotoxic to fibroblasts; That is why antimicrobial effect of Pharma-Jelly Net Silver is long lasting up to seven days, depending on wound condition. 2- Second: Painless and atraumatic removal: Superabsorbent particles absorb exudates and turn to gel. This allows easy removal without pain or trauma. Soft paraffin also shows non adherent effect which synergizes with superabsorbent powder action. 3-Thirds: Optimum healing environment: Superabsorbent particles gel upon absorption of wound exudates. This provides moist environment which enhances wound healing.

Indications: Pharma-Jelly Net Silver is used as primary wound dressing for wounds at high risk of infection like: 1. Low to moderate exuding acute wounds: • Minor burns. • Skin abrasions. • Traumatic wounds. • Skin grafts and donor sites. 2. Low to moderate exuding chronic wounds: • Leg and pressure ulcers. • Venous ulcers. • Decubitus ulcers. Pharma-Jelly Net Silver should be covered with secondary absorbent dressing e.g. Pharma-Foam or Pharmapad. Contraindications: 1.
