Product catalog summary
Introduction to Instrument Air Systems
An Instrument Air system provides high-pressure, clean, dry air for medical support services, compliant with NFPA 99 standards. It is used for various medical support purposes, including operating medical-surgical tools and laboratory applications.

NFPA 99 Compliance
  • Instrument air can be used for medical support purposes, such as removing moisture from instruments and operating medical tools.
  • Air sources must produce a minimum gauge pressure of 1380 kPa (200 psi).
  • Alarms must activate when the dew point exceeds -30°C (-22°F).

Powerex Instrument Air Systems
Powerex systems are NFPA 99 compliant, featuring 250 psi lubricated compressors, HMI touch screen panels, dual desiccant dryers, air receivers, and dew point monitors set to alarm at -22°F. These systems are designed for durability, ease of installation, and advanced control.

Engineering Specifications
  • Front-mounted control panel with HMI touch screen and digital display.
  • Programmable Logic Controller and power distribution block.
  • Motor protector circuit breakers and pressure transducer.
  • Dual 120Vac control transformers with fused protection.
  • General fault dry contact indicators for high temperature or motor overload.
  • Fail-safe features include backup low-pressure switch and door-mounted controls.

Model Specifications
  • Duplex, Triplex, and Quadplex models available with varying horsepower, phase, voltage, SCFM, tank size, dimensions, and shipping weight.
  • Models are designed with one pump in reserve per NFPA 99 standards.

System Features
  • 250 psi lubricated air compressors with HMI touch screen display.
  • Run time hour meter, high air temperature shutdown, and maintenance counter with alarm warning on HMI.
  • Automatic start/stop control with energy-saving variable-pump-drive system.
  • Inlet filtration with replaceable elements and air-cooled aftercooler for each compressor.
  • Dual desiccant dryers and dew point monitor set to alarm at -22°F.

Why Instrument Air? An Instrument Air system provides high pressure, clean, dry air for medical support services. Per NFPA 99: • 5.1.3.9.2.1 “Instrument air shall be permitted to be used for any medical support purpose (e.g., to remove excess moisture from instruments before further processing, or to operate medical-surgical tools, air-driven booms, pendants, or similar applications) and, if appropriate to the procedures, to be used in laboratories.” 5.1.3.9.3.1 “Instrument air sources shall produce air at not less than a gauge pressure of 1380kPa (200 psi) output pressure.” 5.1.3.9.10.1 (2) “Local alarm and alarms at all master alarm panels that activate when the dew point at system pressure exceeds –30oC (-22oF), indicating high dew point.” Why Powerex? The Powerex Instrument Air systems are NFPA 99 compliant and feature 250 psi lubricated compressors, HMI touch screen panel, dual desiccant dryers, air receiver, and a dew point monitor set to alarm at -22oF. Extra heavy duty compressor design, state of the art touch screen display, and ease of installation makes Powerex your choice for your instrument air needs. 150 Production Drive, Harrison, Ohio 45030 Telephone:(888)769-7979 Fax: (513)367-3125 www.
