Principle SmartCoat technology uses long known effects of the titanium dioxide. On the light highly reactive titanium dioxide is mainly used for its photocatalytic reactions aimed at purification of the air, antimicrobial effects, and more. Upon contact with light, (e.g. standard fluorescent light, sunlight) there is a launch of reactions on the SmartCoat layer involving formation of a large amount of hydroxyl radicals.
