Standard and Fenestrated Cannulas The Standard and Fenestrated Cannulas are “color distinct”. The Standard Cannula clips into all Blom tubes with its 15mm clips. It typically is used with the Cuffed Fenestrated tube and the Cuffless Non-Fenestrated Tube. The Fenestrated Cannula facilitates the weaning process. Non-Fenestrated Uncuffed Tube This tube provides an artificial airway for suctioning and airway access when a cuff is not needed. Speech Cannula The Speech Cannula allows ventilator dependent patients to speak regardless of cuff inflation. It does so with a flap valve and bubble valve. The flap valve opens during inhalation allowing the bubble valve to expand into the fenestration sealing it. The flap valve will close during exhalation allowing the bubble valve to collapse and unblock the fenestration.
