Product catalog summary
Overview: The document provides a detailed overview of the Autopol® Series of Automatic Polarimeters by Rudolph Research Analytical, highlighting their use in measuring optical activity in compounds across industries such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and food.
Polarimetry: Polarimetry is a non-destructive technique for measuring optical activity, crucial for quality control and research. It is used to isolate unknowns, evaluate optically active compounds, and investigate kinetic reactions, particularly in pharmaceuticals, essential oils, and food industries.
Research Applications: The Autopol series is used for isolating and identifying unknown compounds, monitoring reaction mixtures, and analyzing molecular structures, with multiple wavelength selections available for observing effects on optically active substances.
Quality and Process Control: These polarimeters are employed in laboratories and factories for quality and process control, measuring product purity and concentration in various compounds.
Measurement Modes: The Autopol IV model can measure in Optical Rotation, Specific Rotation, Concentration, or Specific Rotation Plus modes, supporting sample cells up to 200mm for high sensitivity.
Temperature Control: The series allows temperature control via external water baths or the TempTrol™ System, which electronically heats and cools samples.
Multiple Wavelengths: The Autopol IV offers models with single, dual, and six wavelengths, using a Tungsten-Halogen lamp for spectral versatility.
Product Models: Various models, including Autopol I, II, III, IV, V, V Plus, and VI, are detailed, each with specific features and applications, varying in accuracy, wavelength options, and features like TempTrol™.
Specifications: Detailed specifications for each model include measuring modes, resolution, accuracy, and optional features, designed to meet needs from education to advanced pharmaceutical research.
Resolution and Accuracy: Models offer selectable resolutions of 0.01, 0.001, and 0.0001° Arc, with accuracy maintained at ±0.002° Arc Optical Rotation for specific wavelengths.
Temperature Control: Temperature is controlled via an external water bath or TempTrol™, maintaining a range of 15°-40°C with ±0.2°C accuracy.
Optical and Light Source: Models use Glan Thompson Calcite prisms and a tungsten-halogen light source, with selectable wavelengths via touchscreen.
Data and Interface: Data storage is facilitated by an 8 GB compact flash, with USB, RS232, and Ethernet ports for communication. The operating system is Windows 7 Embedded, with a touchscreen interface.
Compliance and Calibration: The software complies with 21 CFR Part 11, with automatic calibration via touchscreen, designed for markets including education, food, and pharmaceutical QC.
Connection and Interfaces: Equipped with USB, RS232, and Ethernet ports, the device offers versatile connectivity options.
Calibration: Automatic calibration via touchscreen ensures ease of use and accuracy.
Operating System: Runs on Windows 7 Embedded, providing a stable environment.
Display: Features an 8-inch color display with an alternative 10.4-inch model, both with touchscreen interfaces.
User Interface: Operated via touchscreen, enhancing interaction and accessibility.
Automatic Sensitivity Control: Measures samples with transmittance as low as 0.01%, ensuring high sensitivity.
Input Power: Operates on 100 - 240V, 50/60 Hz, accommodating various power standards.
Operating Dimensions and Weight: Dimensions vary between models, with weights ranging from 42 lbs to 90 lbs.
Quality and Optics: Uses high-quality Glan Thompson Calcite Polarizers for superior performance.
Validation and Calibration: Comes with accessories for validation and automatic calibration.

Polarimetry Polarimetry • istinguishing between optical isomers. D A sensitive nondestructive technique for measuring the optical activity exhibited by inorganic and organic compounds. A compound is considered to be optically active if linearly polarized light is rotated when passing through it. The amount of optical rotation is determined by the molecular structure and concentration of chiral molecules in the substance. Each optically active substance has its own specific rotation as defined in Biot’s law: • nalyzing molecular structure by A plotting optical rotatory dispersion curves over a...
