Vivapore 5 and Vivapore 10 | 20 Biological sample concentration in clinical chemistry Easy to use – Minimal hands-on time Safe – No cross contamination Economical – No need for additional equipment Guaranteed sample recovery – Built in dead stop volume Vivapore Concentrators, left Vivapore 5, right Vivapore 10 | 20 Vivapore concentrators offer exceptional ease of use and flexibility for the concentration of macromolecules from dilute solutions, especially in a clinical environment. Depending on the configuration and reservoir volume of the Vivapore selected, starting volumes may vary from 1 to 20 ml and up to 400 + concentrations may be achieved. Membranes used in Vivapore devices are highly hydrophilic and have been specially formulated to provide low protein binding and high filtration speed without the need for pressure or vacuum. Applications – oncentration of urine, cerebrospinal fluid C or plasma to intensify proteins indicating abnormal or pathological states (e.g. Bence Jones proteins in urine), for analysis by electrophoresis or immunoelectrophoresis. Easiest operation method – ipette sample into device P – oncentrating proteins in urine C (Bence-Jones protein) – ptional expansion of the sample volume O capacity with expansion reservoir for Vivapore 10 | 20 (VP A 006) – oncentrating other clinical samples C prior to electrophoresis or immuno electrophoresis Features – ndividual, disposable, CE certified units I – oncentration of dilute body fluids C (e.g., human milk, saliva, semen, tears, cervical and amniotic fluids, sputum) to intensify proteins indicating abnormal or pathological states – fficient concentration (up to 400 + E depending on product selected) – mproved band visualization of dilute I protein solutions prior to electrophoresis – rinted, easy-to-read graduation marks P indicate concentration level – igh speed concentrations, H even with particle-laden solutions – oncentrating enzymes or C isoenzymes (alkaline phosphatase, lactic dehydrogenase, etc.) – ,500 Dalton membrane cut off 7 – p to 98% recovery rate U – o additional equipment required N – 0 μl dead stop volume – guaranteed 5 sample recovery – uffer exchange or desalting B – evice can be left unattended until D desired concentration is achieved – ecover concentrate with Pasteur pipette R Bence-Jones Protein Recovery The level at which Bence-Jones proteins indicate a pathological condition is 0.06 mg/ml (Damacco). The Vivapore is able to recover and allow visualization of at least 0.008 mg/ml Bence-Jones proteins – well below that required by the clinician. (Ref. Damacco, Waldestrom, Acta Medica Scandinavica [1968] 184 403-409.)
