IPV® 1 Quick Reference Guide

Product catalog summary
Introduction
This document is a quick reference guide for the IPV® 1 device, used for patients transitioning off respiratory support. It provides instructions on setting up, operating, and maintaining the device.

Device Specifications
  • Control Knobs: The device has knobs for gas source, frequency, and amplitude. The starting positions are OFF for gas source, fully left for frequency, and fully right for amplitude.
  • Digital Display: Displays include pulse amplitude, mean airway pressure (MAP), session timer, and pulse frequency.

Treatment Workflow
  • Setup: Connect the device to a gas source and assemble the Phasitron®.
  • Patient Preparation: Position the patient upright and assess vital signs.
  • Begin Treatment: Adjust amplitude and frequency to achieve adequate chest wiggle and aeration.
  • Completion: Turn off the gas source and clean the Phasitron®.

In-Line Use Considerations
  • The In-Line Valve may cause leaks in the ventilator circuit, affecting tidal volume.
  • Adjust ventilator settings as needed and restore them post-therapy.
  • Use pressure control mode for better results.

Warnings and Cautions
  • Do not use the In-Line Valve in neonates or infants at high risk of complications.
  • Ensure the Phasitron® nebulizer contains liquid during treatment.
  • Follow institutional protocols for ventilator disconnection.

General Considerations
  • Faster frequencies improve gas exchange, while slower frequencies help loosen secretions.
  • Therapy is recommended for 15-20 minutes every 6-8 hours.
  • A healthcare professional must monitor the patient throughout therapy.

Phasitron® Configurations
  • Can be used with a mouthpiece, mask, or directly to an artificial airway.
  • In-line delivery is possible with a ventilator.

Pre-Use Check
  • Perform a pre-use check before initial use and with each new Phasitron® circuit.
  • Ensure MAP is within specified range and adjust knobs accordingly.

IPV® 1 Quick Reference Guide Control Knobs + Starting Positions Digital Display Gas Source knob turns the IPV® 1 on by selecting a connected gas source. Starting Position: OFF Pulse Amplitude displays a 5 second average of peak minus trough pressures sampled at the output of the Phasitron. Frequency knob determines the rate of high frequency percussive pulses delivered to the patient. Starting Position: Rotated fully to the left ean Airway Pressure (MAP) displays a M 5 second average of the pressure sampled at the output of the Phasitron. Session Timer displays total usage time of the current session. Pulse Frequency displays the number of pulses per minute. Amplitude knob determines the pressure delivered to the patient. Starting Position: Rotated fully to the right NOTE: For patients coming off respiratory support, consider starting treatment with some amplitude (e.g. the amplitude knob pointing straight up) then quickly titrate to target the MAP delivered by previous support settings

IPV® 1 Quick Reference Guide-4

• Faster/higher frequencies provide secretion mobilization and quickly improve gas exchange. • Slower/lower frequencies loosen thicker secretions and help recruit the lung. • Aeration of pulses throughout lung fields and visible chest wiggle are primary indicators of effective treatment. • It is recommended to perform therapy for 15-20 minutes every 6-8 hours, or per provider orders. • A trained healthcare professional must monitor the patient throughout the therapy. • Both amplitude and frequency can be adjusted to increase or decrease the amount of chest wiggle. • The IPV In-Line Valve may...
