Sealed Unit laboratory mixer The Silverson Sealed Unit laboratory mixer is designed for mixing sterile or hazardous materials and for working under vacuum. It is ideal for research and pilot-scale production in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Processing can be carried out under conditions of absolute safety, since the mechanical seal protects sterile materials from airborne contamination and eliminates the risk of hazardous materials escaping into the surrounding atmosphere. The efficiency of the machine is such that materials are reduced to a fine homogeneous suspension in a few seconds, with virtually no heat rise. The mixer features a special Quick-Release mechanism which permits any of the Sealed Unit Mixing Assemblies listed overleaf to be easily attached or removed. Once attached, the mechanism hermetically seals the mixing assembly and vessel, preventing any contamination. Specifications: Motor unit Powerful 750W (1hp) motor. Nominal maximum speed 10,000 rpm. Instrumentation touch pad control with digital tachometer, programmable integral timer and amperage display. The mixer can be connected to a computer via USB port for use with the Silverson “DataLogger” program, allowing monitoring and recording of speed and power draw during operation. Mixing Assemblies and Vessels The following vessels are available for the sealed unit; these feature integral mixing assemblies specially modified to suit the individual container. Sealed Unit mixers will accept any of these vessels but are not compatible with any of the assemblies for standard L5 Series laboratory mixers (and vice versa).
