Biological indicator SIMICON EF for the reprocessing of endoscopes Product information Field of application: SIMICON EF is a biological indicator, which is designed for the validation and routine monitoring of cleaning and disinfection processes (> 35 °C) for flexible endoscopes. SIMICON EF indicators contain populations of Enterococcus faecium and are contaminated with test soil according to ISO 15883-5. Biological indicator SIMICON EF in compliance with the requirements of ISO 15883-5, Annex I. SIMICON hygiene & microbiology Example of use: 1. For the performance assessment of reprocessing procedures for flexible endoscopes, take the indicators out of the pouch and place them at representative spots in an endoscope dummy or a PCD. Other indicators should be placed in the small parts basket. One indicator is intended for verifying the growth performance after transport and shipping. Do not process this control indicator. 2. Sanitize your hands, once the indicators are fixed. Organism: Enterococcus faecium Mean population (cfu): 109 Protein content: > 5.000 µg / carrier Carrier material: Stainless steal carrier V4A Primary packaging: paper / foil Organic burden: sheep blood and additives Shelf life: 3 months from the date of manufacturing After disinfection Packing unit: 4. When the disinfection process is finished, take out the indicators aseptically. In case there are no sterile tweezers available use sterile one-way gloves. 5. Put the indicators in numbered sterile plastic tubes and cap them. 6. Incubation: 4 days at 35 °C ± 2 K (e.g. incubate with an Enterococcus selective nutrient medium). 7. Daily check all tubes for growth and especially check for specific growth of the test organism. 3. Select disinfection program. Start the program. 8. Note down the results. The results are only valid if the growth control shows typical growth.
