Product catalog summary

Introduction
Single Use Surgical, a British medical device manufacturer, has reported a significant shift in hospitals across the Middle East towards using single-use suction tubes to reduce surgical site infections. This change is expected to have a substantial impact on infection rates in the region.

Specifications and Procedures
Suction tubes are critical instruments used in nearly all surgical procedures. However, those with narrow channels are particularly challenging to clean, often retaining debris even after recommended cleaning procedures. This poses a high risk of cross-infection between patients.

Recommendations
Single Use Surgical advocates for the adoption of single-use suction tubes, which are manufactured in British cleanrooms to ensure they are free from debris before sterilization. This switch is seen as a safer option for patients and is already being adopted in the UK and Middle East.

Exhibition and Market Expansion
The company will showcase its range of single-use suction tubes at Arab Health in Dubai from 27-30 January. They are seeking distributors in Bahrain, Jordan, and Oman, among other markets.

About Single Use Surgical
Single Use Surgical offers disposable suction tubes designed for delicate surgeries, providing a cost-effective and safer alternative to reusable instruments. This approach reduces the burden on Sterile Processing Departments and helps lower hospital-acquired infection rates.

Leading surgeons are changing their reusable suction tubes to single use alternatives, in an effort to cut the risk of hospital acquired infection. Studies have shown that suction tubes – an instrument used in almost all surgical procedures – particularly those with very narrow channels used in delicate surgery, are almost impossible to clean and become clogged with unseen blood or tissue. Even when manufacturer’s recommended cleaning methods are followed and extra time is taken, debris from the previous patient often remains, which creates a high risk of cross infection when the suction is used for the next patient. Single Use Surgical manufactures in British cleanrooms to guarantee that each suction is clean and free from debris before sterilisation. Alycia Burton, Export Executive at Single Use Surgical, said: “we saw early adoption of single use suction tubes in the UK and we are pleased to see that hospitals in the Middle East also recognise that a simple switch to single use suction tubes offers a much safer option for their patients. We’re really looking forward to helping others in the region make the change, which could help cut hospital acquired infections.” Single Use Surgical will be showcasing a range of single use suction tubes at Arab Health, which takes place at the Dubai International Convention Centre from 27-30 January. The company is looking for distributors in Bahrain, Jordan and Oman, amongst other markets and will be located at stand Z1F53 in the Zabeel Hall. ---END--- SUS AEB N:\SUS\Marketing\PR\PR 2014\Single Use Suctions Help Reduce Surgical Site Infections in the Middle East 14
