Heimlich One-Way Valve-1

Heimlich One-Way Valve Sterilized using ethylene oxide Latex Free Do not reuse. Single patient, single application use. For use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian. Description The Heimlich One-Way Valve consists of a valve and connecting tube ready to connect to a variety of chest drainage tubes used to treat a pneumothorax. Function The Heimlich One-Way Valve is intended to be used in conjunction with an appropriate chest drainage tube to treat a pneumothorax only. It is not intended to be used with any other medical condition. Instructions for Use 1. Inspect packaging for sterility. Remove product from package and visually inspect for any damage. WARNING! Discard if product or packaging is damaged. 2. After placement of the chest tube, attach the connecting tube (included) to the blue plastic hose barb at the end of the Heimlich One-Way Valve. The end is also labeled, “Connect chest drain to this end”. 3. The opposite end with the clear hose barb will remain open, allowing the air from the chest cavity to escape and at the same time, not allowing any room air to enter. Warning! Do not use if fluid is present in the lungs. WARNING! Failure to properly immobilize patient during the procedure may result in serious injury and/or death. WARNING!
