Product catalog summary
Overview: Champion™ Competent Cells are designed for high transformation efficiency, ideal for cloning and library preparation. They offer a time-saving and easy-to-use protocol without the need for expensive equipment.
Key Features:
  • High Transformation Efficiency: > 1 x 1010 cfu/μg pUC19 DNA.
  • Time-Saving: Transformation process takes 20 seconds to 6 minutes.
  • No Expensive Equipment: Eliminates the need for electroporators and disposable cuvettes.
Transformation Protocol:
  1. Quickly thaw cells using hand warmth, warm water bath, or running tap water for 10-20 seconds until partially thawed.
  2. Add DNA (less than 10% of cell volume) to the cells.
  3. Mix by vortexing for 1 second or tapping the tube.
  4. Incubate on ice for 0-10 minutes to slightly increase efficiency.
  5. Plate the mixture onto a pre-warmed selective LB agar plate.
  6. Incubate at 37°C until colonies are ready for analysis.
Antibiotic Concentrations:
  • Ampicillin: 20 μg/ml
  • Kanamycin: 25 μg/ml
  • Tetracycline: 7.5 μg/ml
  • Chloramphenicol: 20 μg/ml
Product Variants:
  • Champion™ 109 High: Compatible with E. coli JM109, efficiency >1 x 108 cfu/μg.
  • Champion™ 21: Compatible with E. coli BL21 (DE3), efficiency >1 x 107 cfu/μg.
  • Champion™ DH5α High: Compatible with E. coli DH5α, efficiency >3 x 108 cfu/μg.
Ordering Information: Available in quantities of 100 μl x 80 vials or 100 μl x 24 vials with specific catalog numbers for each variant.

Time-saving Transformation Protocol O Quickly thaw the Champion™ Competent Cells with hand (body temperature), warm water bath or running tap water about 10~20 seconds until 1/3~1/2 volume is thawed. Add less than 10% of competent cell volume DNA (ex. ligation products) to cells. Vortex 1 sec or tap the tube with finger to mix well. Incubate on ice for 0~10 min. (The ice-incubation will slightly increase efficiency) Plate the bacteria/DNA mixture onto a pre-warmed (room temperature to 37°C) and dried selective LB agar plate (LB + antibiotic). Incubate the plates at 37°C until the colonies are...
