SLS II

Product catalog summary
Overview
The SLS® II Laser Sheath is a precision lead management technology designed for the efficient and safe removal of pacemaker and defibrillator leads. It utilizes a ring of laser energy to ablate tissue around the lead, facilitating quick extraction times.

Specifications
The SLS II operates at a low temperature in the ultraviolet spectrum at 308nm, ablating tissue at a depth of 50 microns. It is available in three kit sizes (12F, 14F, 16F) with varying target lead diameters and tip diameters. The working length for all kits is 50 cm, with a repetition rate of 25-40 Hz and a clinical energy setting of 30-60 mJ/mm2.

Performance
In a study involving 46 leads, the SLS II demonstrated fast extraction times with a median of 4 minutes and a mean of 5.3 minutes. The lead removal success rates were 96.5% for the laser sheath compared to 64% for mechanical sheaths.

Safety Information
The SLS II is intended for use with other lead extraction tools in suitable patients. It may not be safe for all patients or lead types, particularly when extraction through superior veins is not possible. Potential adverse events include damage to blood vessels, heart structures, bleeding, or lung collapse. Rare but serious complications may require emergency medical intervention.

Design Features
The second-generation laser sheath features a flexible distal segment, a 15˚ bevel tip for navigating acute lead angles, an internal lubricious coating for easy passage, and improved torque capacity. It includes a Teflon® outer sheath for low-friction conduit.

Contact Information
For more information, contact The Spectranetics Corporation at their headquarters in Colorado Springs, CO, or their international offices in the Netherlands and Germany.
