Product catalog summary
Introduction to Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms (AAA)
An Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) is an abnormal swelling in the abdominal aorta, the body's largest artery. This condition can lead to a rupture, causing internal bleeding and potentially death. The brochure provides information on the Treovance® Stent-Graft System for treating AAA.

Causes and Symptoms
AAA is often caused by a weakening of the aorta due to vascular disease, injury, or genetic defects. Risk factors include smoking, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, being overweight, and a family history of cardiovascular disease. Symptoms may include pain in the chest, abdomen, or lower back, a pulsating sensation in the abdomen, back pain, cold foot, or a painful toe due to blood clots, and fever or weight loss if the aneurysm is inflamed.

Treatment Options
Treatment depends on the aneurysm's size and location. Options include:
  • Conventional Open Surgery: Involves a large incision to remove and replace the weakened section of the aorta with synthetic material. Recovery can take 3 to 6 months.
  • Endovascular Abdominal Stent-Grafting: A less invasive procedure using small incisions to insert a stent-graft via a catheter. This method results in less blood loss, trauma, and a faster recovery.

The Treovance® Stent-Graft System
The Treovance® Stent-Graft is a woven fabric tube supported by a metal scaffold, inserted through small incisions to isolate the aneurysm and redirect blood flow. The procedure typically takes 1 to 3 hours, with a hospital stay of a few days and a recovery period of 2-6 weeks.

Clinical Trial Participation
Eligibility for the Bolton AAA trial includes being aged 18-85, diagnosed with infrarenal AAA, and willing to comply with follow-up visits. Exclusion criteria include having a ruptured aneurysm, severe coronary artery disease, recent stroke or MI, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, active systemic infection, morbid obesity, renal failure, participation in another study, prior AAA repair, or allergies to materials used in the procedure.

Conclusion
The brochure emphasizes the benefits of the Treovance® Stent-Graft System as a less invasive treatment option for AAA, highlighting its clinical advantages and the importance of regular follow-up care.
