Product catalog summary
Description
The Adult Head (Dynamic, Advanced) phantom is designed for use in Ultrasound, MRI, and X-Ray/CT scans. It features a brain parenchyma made from ultra-soft polyurethane to mimic soft tissue, with stable materials that do not dry out. The skull has a realistic three-layered structure. The phantom is optimized for T2-weighted MRI imaging, with realistic T2 relaxation times, and includes realistic blood vessels and a complete ventricular system.

Anatomy
The phantom includes a skull with temporal and suboccipital windows, openable calvaria, grey matter, complex brain vessels, bifurcation, stenosis, aneurysms, and brain ventricles. It also features plastic connectors and acoustically correct skin-mimicking material.

Design
The manual provides multiple views of the phantom, including front, perspective, lateral, and top views.

Instructions for Ultrasound Use
To use with ultrasound, fill the skull cavity with water or a preferred liquid. The head can also be submerged underwater to remove air bubbles.

Filling the Ventricles
Instructions include filling the ventricles with water using a syringe, sealing, repositioning, and repeating until all air is removed.

Special Instructions
The phantom can be scanned in various positions and directions. For MRI, blood vessels can be filled with contrast agents. Testing is recommended for blood-mimicking fluids to ensure compatibility.

Technical Properties
Details include sound velocity, density, hardness, T2 values, and attenuation for different tissues. Thermal properties of bone-mimicking tissue are also provided.

Materials Used
Soft tissues are made from urethane-based resin, and synthetic bones from a ceramic-reinforced epoxy composite.

Size and Weight
The phantom measures 12 x 9 x 7 inches and weighs approximately 17 lbs. Shipment size is 23 x 14 x 10 inches, weighing 22 lbs.

Included In Order
The package includes the phantom, user manual, a 2-year warranty, and a hard carry case.

Storage and Handling
After use, drain and dry the phantom. Protect it from UV light and store in a dry, dark place.

Cleaning
The phantom is water-resistant and can be cleaned with water or soapy water. It is resistant to chemicals, but testing is recommended for stronger solvents.

TRUE PHANTOM SOLUTIONS INC. Description The Adult Head (Dynamic, Advanced) phantom is visible on Ultrasound, MRI, and X-Ray/CT scans. The brain parenchyma is made of an ultra-soft polyurethane-based material that mimics soft tissue. The materials used to build the phantom are stable over time, and they do not dry out. The skull bone has a realistic three-layered structure with an inner diploe layer. In terms of MRI applications, the phantom tissues have realistic T2 relaxation time values, which makes this product the best fit for any T2-weighted MRI imaging methods. Very good results can also...

TRUE PHANTOM SOLUTIONS INC. HD-C03 | User Manual To scan the head under ultrasound, fill the skull cavity with water or your preferred liquid. You can fill the skull using a syringe or by directly pouring water from a water tap through the opening on the calvaria. The liquid is added to act as a dura mater and to serve as a medium through which the ultrasound wave can pass. You can also scan the head by submerging it completely underwater (e.g., in a water tank) and removing any air bubbles between the skull and the brain. Step-by-Step Instructions A. Begin filling slowly. - Using a syringe or...

TRUE PHANTOM SOLUTIONS INC. Special Instructions Scanning the phantom The phantom is fabricated based on the anatomy of a real human head, and it can be scanned in supine, prone, and Fowler’s positions. More importantly, scanning can be performed from multiple directions (as highlighted in the image below).  For ultrasound applications, this phantom can be scanned either by using ultrasonic gel or simply in a water tank. For MRI applications, the artificial blood vessels can be filled with any common MRI contrast agents. Filling the phantom with blood-mimicking fluid  The phantom can be filled...
