Introduction
DuraHolder™ Instrument Protection System (IPS) is a product designed by Medcorp International for the protection and organization of surgical instruments during in-house hospital sterile processing. It utilizes Kimberly-Clark's KimGuard sterilization wrap to form pockets for instrument protection.

Specifications
DuraHolder IPS is intended for use within a sterility maintenance system and does not provide a sterile barrier. It is designed for single sterilization cycle use only and must be used with a sterilization wrap or container system to maintain sterility.

Procedures
The system allows for sterilization in a steam autoclave using a validated sterilization and drying cycle. It can be used in validated PreVac Steam sterilizers, with a recommended minimum cycle of 133°C for four minutes exposure and 20 minutes dry time. Instruments should be cleaned, disinfected, and dried before being placed into DuraHolder IPS.

An appropriate process indicator should be placed inside the innermost pocket of the DuraHolder IPS. It is crucial to present the DuraHolder to the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) in hospitals, which is often located in the basement. The SPD is sometimes referred to as the Central Sterile Supply Department in some countries.
