Sugar Intolerance StripAssays®

Product catalog summary
Overview: The document discusses the ViennaLab Sugar Intolerance StripAssays®, a diagnostic tool designed to identify genetic variants associated with lactose and fructose intolerance. These assays provide a straightforward method for detecting common mutations that lead to sugar intolerance, aiding in the development of personalized diets.
Key Features:
  • The assays focus on two main sugars: lactose and fructose, which are common in human diets but can cause intolerance due to insufficient enzyme production.
  • Lactose intolerance is linked to two variants in the LCT gene (-13910 T/C, -22018 A/G), while hereditary fructose intolerance (HFI) is associated with four mutations in the aldolase B gene (del4E4, A149P, A174D, N334K).
  • The StripAssays® utilize reverse-hybridization of biotinylated PCR products, combining probes for variants and controls on a test strip, with results visible to the naked eye.
Procedure:
  1. Amplification: Multiplex PCR amplification with simultaneous biotin-labeling using a thermocycler.
  2. Hybridization: Conducted directly on the StripAssay® test strips using an incubator.
  3. Identification: Results can be observed with the naked eye or detected using a streptavidin-alkaline phosphatase scanner and software.
Product Information:
  • Lactose Intolerance StripAssay®: Detects 2 LCT polymorphisms.
  • Sugar Intolerance StripAssay®: Detects 2 LCT polymorphisms and 4 ALDO B mutations.
  • Each kit contains 20 tests.
Additional Information:
  • ViennaLab Diagnostics GmbH is the manufacturer, located in Vienna, Austria.
  • The company offers a range of diagnostic StripAssays® for various conditions, including cancer and cardiovascular diseases.
  • The assays are designed to be easy, reliable, versatile, and affordable, requiring minimal equipment (incubator, thermocycler, shaker) and optional software for result interpretation.

i=rsjfsj/\/\3 ESTABLISHED INNOVATIONS IN DIAGNOSTICS Sugar Intolerance StripAssays The easy way to test for Sugar Intolerance using established innovations in diagnosticsSugar Intolerance Assays. Key to a personalized diet. Lactose and fructose are among the most common sugars in human diet, but not all people have the necessary enzymes in sufficient quantities to completely digest them. Mutations in the genes for metabolic enzymes or transporters can cause hereditary sugar intolerance. People who suffer from this intolerance may experience severe discomfort when eating lactose or fructose. Common symptoms include abdominal bloating and pain, vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, flatulence, and hypoglycemia. Fructose intolerance may ultimately cause death due to liver and kidney damage. Two variants (-13910 T/C, -22018 A/G) in an upstream regulatory region of the LCT gene correlate with the age-related decline of lactase activity. Lactase nonpersistence (adult-type hypolactasia) causes intolerance to dietary lactose in the majority of people worldwide. Hereditary fructose intolerance (HFI) is caused by mutations within the coding region of aldolase B, a key enzyme in the metabolism of dietary fructose. Four mutations (del4E4, A149P, A174D, N334K) cover >85% of known aldolase B gene variations. The Sugar Intolerance StripAssays® offer an easy way to identify the most frequent genetic variants in the genes that contribute to lactose or fructose intolerance. Function
