Incision
A 1cm incision is made approximately 2cm superior to the weight-bearing surface and 1.5cm distal to the medial calcaneal tubercle.

Creating the Pathway
A pathway is created inferior to the plantar fascia using blunt dissection. The cannula/obturator assembly is introduced into this pathway, keeping the cannula snug against the plantar fascia.

Identification of Plantar Fascia
A 4mm, 30° endoscope is inserted into the cannula to visualize the plantar fascia. If fibers are not clearly defined, a rasp may be used to remove adhering soft tissue.

Use of Depth Gauge
The depth gauge is used to approximate the cutting depth required to transect the plantar fascia. The depth is determined by sliding the gauge over the endoscope and positioning the stop device.

Division of the Plantar Fascia
The scope-mounted blade is affixed to the endoscope and introduced into the cannula to divide the plantar fascia in a medial-to-lateral direction. Visualization of specific muscles confirms adequate transection.

Confirming Adequate Release
The endoscope is reintroduced to visualize the divided plantar fascia, ensuring complete division when the overlying muscle is seen without intervening fibers.

Blade Assembly and Use of Locking Device
The endoscopic blades are designed for single use only. Resterilization may cause blade detachment, posing a risk to the patient.

DIVISION OF THE PLANTAR FASCIA Replicate the measurement from the depth gauge on the scope-mounted blade using the stop attachment. Ax the scope-mounted blade onto the endoscope using the locking device (see diagram below).
