ORTHOLOC® Forefoot Fracture System ? FA255?409

Product catalog summary
Introduction
The ORTHOLOC™ Forefoot Fracture System is designed to enhance surgical flexibility and performance in forefoot fracture and osteotomy fixation. It features polyaxial locked plate technology, offering both traditional non-locking and locking screw/plate constructs for stability. Key attributes include strength with 1.5mm titanium locking plates, versatility with multiple screw/plate options, and specificity tailored by leading surgeons for forefoot fixation challenges.

Thread and Screw Design
The ORTHOLOC™ thread design provides multiple points of engagement for maximum holding power and stiffness, effective up to 15 degrees off-axis. The locking screw, coated with titanium nitride, ensures a secure fit by reforming internal plate threads upon full engagement.

Surgical Technique
Plate Selection: Choose a plate based on the fracture/osteotomy site and fixation goals. Options include Straight, T-Plate, L-Plate, Akin Plate, and 1st Metatarsal Plate, all with specific dimensions and lengths.
Temporary Fixation: Use temporary fixation pins in K-wire holes or plate screw holes to provisionally fixate the plate.
Screw Selection: Plates accept 2.0mm or 2.4mm locking or non-locking screws. Selection depends on anatomy and fixation goals, with specific lengths and drill sizes provided.
Screw Placement: Bicortical fixation is generally unnecessary but recommended for highly comminuted fractures. Use the Star 7 Driver for screw placement.
Compression Feature: Achieve compression using the oblong compression screw slot on specific plates, creating compression as the screw head moves.

Applications
The system is applicable for various forefoot conditions, including osteotomies and fractures of the metatarsal shaft, neck, base, and 5th metatarsal.

Ordering Information
Detailed part numbers and descriptions are provided for plates, screws, and instruments, ensuring precise ordering for surgical needs.

Screw Placement In general, bicortical fixation is not required with ORTHOLOC™ locking screws; however, it should be strongly considered in cases of highly comminuted fractures or unstable osteotomies. Choose the locking screw that corresponds with the previously selected drill diameter and length determined. Use the Star 7 Driver to drive the screw until the proximal locking threads of the locking screw are fully engaged with the plate or until the head of the non-locking screws sits flush with the plate. Compression Feature Compression across a fracture/osteotomy site can be achieved using...
