Background Atherosclerotic renal artery stenosis (ARAS) remains the leading cause of renovascular disease. ARAS causes hypertension, loss of renal function, and cardiovascular complications. Treatment by means of percutaneous transluminal renal artery stenting (PTRAS) is disappointing in preserving renal function and preventing cardiovascular events.
